Dr. Brett Alten
Deputy General Counsel, Intellectual Property, HPE
Brett Alten is the Deputy General Counsel for the Intellectual Property Group at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
In this role, Brett focuses on developing and driving HPE’s intellectual property strategy in partnership with the business. He provides a broad range of services to the business, including drafting, filing and asserting patents, protection of trademarks, and monetization of appropriate IP assets, and he closely monitors HPE’s R&D priorities, product roadmaps, and the competitive IT landscape. Brett also leads the Open Source Program Office.
Before joining the HPE Legal Department in 2017, Brett served in numerous leadership roles for technology legal departments. He joins HPE from Tesla – which acquired SolarCity, the largest solar provider in the U.S. -- where he served as Deputy General Counsel and Head of Intellectual Property.
He also served as the Head of Intellectual Property for Dropbox and as Director of Patent Development and later Director of Intellectual Property Enforcement for Apple. He held positions with the law firms Morrison & Foerster LLP, Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP, and Fish & Neave.
Brett received his bachelor’s degree in physics from Clark University; a master’s degree and doctorate in physics from The John Hopkins University; and a law degree from Fordham University’s School of Law. He is licensed to practice in California and New York and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
He was also a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana, where he taught physics and started a vocational school. Since then, Brett has volunteered in numerous other countries, including Peru, Kenya, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and South Africa.

Google APAC Sustainability Committee Lead
As the Director of Food Program for Real Estate and Workplace Services, Malcolm Omond leads Google’s renowned food at work program in Asia-Pacific. Malcolm and his team working are experts providing an integrated Food Program that enables Google to thrive and maintaining the company's reputation of employer of choice.
Since 2012, Malcolm has led all food program related activities and initiatives for the region as well as developing internal and external partnerships to explore and tackle the challenges and opportunities in the broader food systems. Malcolm is one the founders and leaders of the APAC Sustainability Committee, a cross functional group driving and supporting the implementation of Google’s Sustainability work in the region. Before joining Google, Omond spent 19 years as a hotelier with various roles at Hyatt and Four Seasons Hotels. Malcolm has Degrees in Economics and Asian Studies from Australian National University.

Dr. Alex Peng is Executive Vice President of Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and Director of Net-Zero Sustainability Strategy Office. His fields of focus include Circular Economy, net zero carbon emissions, Energy & Electronic Materials, and Strategy and R&D Planning. He has accomplished R&D, technology transfer and commercialization. , is the inventor of 26 patents, winner of R&D 100 Award in 2009、2017 for high safety Lithium ion battery, establishment of 5 successful startup companies.

During John’s 27 year plus career as journalist and editor, he covered various area, from semiconductor, computer, communication, software to internet. He has done one on one interviews with numerous industry heavyweight leaders, including Bill Gates, Andy Grove, Larry Ellison, John Chambers, Michael Dell, Steve Wozniak, Jerry Yang, and Jack Ma. John was based in Shanghai from 2003 to 2020 as correspondent, and meanwhile wrote columns for 5 local publications there, as well as a book entitled “Capitalizing China”, published in 2008. He also helped to translate Steve Wozniak’s autobiography, “iWoz”, into Chinese, which was published in 2008.

Mr. Yacney Hai

Mr. Yancey Hai joined Delta Electronics in 1999 and became Vice Chairman and CEO in 2004. In June 2012, Mr. Hai was elected as Chairman to oversee Delta’s corporate strategic direction and vision, as well as to solidify our corporate governance. In 2022, he was appointed as the first chairman of the Taiwan Climate Partnership, an initiative for the ICT industry supply chain to move towards a net-zero carbon future.
Mr. Hai won the “2010 China Business Leader of the Year Award” co-hosted by CNBC Asia Pacific and the China Business Network, and was named “Asia Innovator of the Year” at the 2010 CNBC Asia Business Leaders Awards. Mr. Hai received the Asia Talent Management Award at CNBC’s 12th Asia Business Leaders Awards in 2013. With this award Mr. Hai is the first business leader of a Taiwan-based company to win ABLA honors twice. In 2013, Mr. Hai was also honored with IR Magazine’s “Best CEO of Greater China” award.
Mr. Shyi-Chin Wang
President, China Steel Corporation (CSC)
President Shyi-Chin Wang has engaged in R&D and operations management for over four decades. He specializes in the field of metal materials, puts a lot of efforts in the development of premium steel products, and leads the CSC Group in producing high quality, high value-added, and more eco-friendly steel, aluminum, and special metal products. He has also introduced smart manufacturing, involved in developing green energy and planning of the carbon-neutral path, and reinforced the solid foundation for innovations in the steel industry. He is a practitioner of the concept that the development of materials comes before the upgrade of an industry. In addition, he has contributed a lot to the development of offshore wind power in Taiwan by facilitating the formation of the domestic underwater jacket foundation alliance.
Mr. Peng-Yu Wang
Chairman of the Board, Intellectual Property Innovation Corporation (IPIC)
Mr. Peng-Yu Wang is the Vice President and Legal Counsel of ITRI, and the Chairman of the Board in IPIC. He has contributed almost 30 years as an Attorney and Patent Agent in Taiwan with professional knowledge on intellectual property law and transnational legal affairs in the field of science and technology. From 2004 to 2006, he developed his career in private sector and worked as the Director of Global Legal Division of Foxconn /Hon-Hai Technology Group. Later on, he was assigned to Foxconn’s China base to undertake a greater responsibility. In 2009, he was promoted as Foxconn's Senior Director and dispatched to the Silicon Valley office, California, USA, in charge of overseas risk management and legal affairs. With legal expertise and experience, Peng-Yu Wang has led ITRI and IPIC to solve global IP controversial issues that Taiwan industries are currently facing. Through the operation of IP Bank, he is committed the cooperation of the domestic industry and enhancing the IP competitiveness of manufacturers.
